Namsan

The other day we went to Namsan ("South Mountain") which is a 262-meter hill in the middle of the city. The N Seoul Tower is located on top of that hill. The weather was beautiful and and the sight was slightly better than from Näsineula in Tampere ;)

Waiting for the cable car.

N Seoul Tower.

View to the north-east. You could see our university from the hill, it's on the left in this picture, but it's so small it's hard to see.

View to the south-west. You can see the Han-river there. We actually haven't been to Han-river yet, i'm really looking forward to that!

View to the west.

The day we went there was the 1919 independence day of Korea and I don't know if it was for that purpose but there were monks giving away water and this bread-mass-kind of-thing. There were also pictures of some old people to be honoured.

Aapo having the food from the monks.

After the happening the monks had a little problem though. There were still many boxes full of water bottles that were left over. They then started giving water bottles to everyone on the hill. First we got a few, then a few more for everyone. And after a while they realized that they're not getting rid of the bottles like that they went ahead and gave us two full boxes.

Monks discussing where to ditch the bottles. And apparently we were the main target.

We of course couldn't take them with us or drink them all on the spot so we tried to give them away. That plan failed since everyone on the hill had at least 3 bottles their own.

In the end the monks threw all the bottles in a pile and the problem was solved.

Yay...

Namsan seemed to be a perfect place for lovers and families with small children. For the (cute!!) toddlers Namsan offered cotton candy and a Teddy Bear Museum. Lovers could buy locks, write their names on the lock and lock it to the fence. And of course throw away the key to represent their everlasting love.

There was an odd sign though...

:)
